This clinically oriented presentation explores the unique cultural and theological landscape of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its impact on mental health, identity, family systems, and relationships. Participants will gain greater understanding of how faith, community expectations, and spiritual beliefs can influence clinical presentations such as scrupulosity, perfectionism, shame, and mixed-faith family dynamics.

The course will also examine the intersectional experiences of members of color navigating a predominantly white religious institution. Emphasis will be placed on culturally responsive, evidence-based care that honors clients’ values while helping therapists recognize personal bias and manage countertransference.

Clinicians will leave with practical tools for creating a neutral, validating therapeutic environment for clients at all stages of their spiritual journey.
